A personal story about memory, loss and legacy.
Why I built Anchor
The story behind Anchor, told in my own words.
Where Anchor began
I had my father in my life for forty years, and I’m grateful for that. But after he passed, I realized how little I had preserved of him — not in love or memory, but in the small things that fade with time. His voice. His laugh. The way he moved through the world. When Arya was born, I knew I didn’t want her to face that same distance one day. I wanted her to inherit more of me than I inherited of him. Anchor began as a way to make that possible.
What I’m building
Anchor is a place to preserve the parts of life that usually disappear — the stories, the voice, the small moments that make us who we are. Most of what we leave behind today is scattered across devices and platforms, and much of it fades before anyone ever sees it. Anchor is my attempt to change that. It’s a way to create continuity for the people we love, so they can inherit more of us than fragments.
A Glimpse of the Experience
Anchor is built around simple, intentional moments — the kind that feel natural, not technical. These early prototype clips aren’t final design, but they capture the feeling we’re building toward, from the first reveal to the way a memory quietly unfolds.
This is the moment when a memory reveals itself as you return to the place where it was created. You can open memories anytime, but the reveal only happens in the real world.
This is the moment a memory comes alive.
